Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike are bringing their high-energy musical show to Cedar Key on Wednesday July 21st at 7 p.m. with a fund-raiser for the Cedar Key School arts program.
Tickets are $10, with children 12 and under admitted free and will be available at the door at the CK School Auditorium
The musicians were on their way to larger venues when local fans invited the band to make a stop in Cedar Key. “We’re so excited to have such an acclaimed band play in our own back yard,” volunteer Marci Wilcox said.
Smith grew up playing old-time fiddle and earned a degree in music education. She and her band took time to collaborate with the International Bluegrass Music Museum to work with students from dozens of elementary and secondary classrooms.
She has performed at major bluegrass festivals, on cruises, at concert halls and performing arts centers and, in Europe.
Her latest release—an innovative “Six Pack” short album of original songs was recorded live at the Bluegrass Music Museum.
