An enormous black cloud could be seen from miles around when a Bronson tire company caught on fire Tuesday afternoon.
Rescue workers from several local cities were able to stop the fire at Tri County Tire from spreading to nearby properties, but traffic on State Road 24 was temporarily halted due to poor visibility.
Williston Fire Chief Lamar Stegall said workers hired to clean up the property accidentally started the fire while cutting steel with a blowtorch.
The Chiefland Citizen will be closed Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day. All news submissions, except obituaries, deadline Friday, May 23 at 3 p.m.
Have a safe and healthy holiday.
