.....Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.
Mark 9:24
Coming down from the mountain where He had been transfigured, the Lord Jesus found that His disciples had been unable to cure a demon-possessed boy.
The sobbing father, who had witnessed their failure, now turned to the Savior. When the Master told him the miracle was possible "if you can believe," the man with tears exclaimed, "Lord, I believe; help with my unbelief."
While he did have a measure of faith, he was acutely aware that doubt was still present in his mind; therefore he felt he honestly needed to acknowledge this weakness. The Lord responded by healing his son.
I often talk with Christians who come to see me deeply discouraged because they feel their faith is weak, or they are unworthy, or because they are still having difficulty overcoming some sin. They confess to me that this makes them feel as if they are hypocrites, and sometimes they even tell me that they wish to stop coming to church, or resign from some position within the church.
