Matt Baker had his 02 car humming in Saturday night's 30-lap Sportsman feature at Bronson Motor Speedway, as he led coast-to-coast and took the checkered flag.

It was the third win of the still-young season for Baker, who hails from Inglis. He entered the race sixth in Sportsman points.

Baker stayed ahead of the 08 of William Edwards the entire race.

Two of the division's top competitors -points leader Matt Blum and No. 2 man Shelton Bowers -went out after getting together on lap 6. Both were fighting for third place.

Todd Kelly ended up third in the 83 car.

Thunder Stocks put on an entertaining show with 12 cars taking the green.

Eric Gellman started on the pole but outside pole Don Welter took the lead on the first lap. Welter?s 80 car was able to stay in front for most of the race, but the 33 of Bill Ryan was moving up through the field all the while.

By lap 15, Ryan passed Welter for the lead. Andy Taylor worked his 63 car past Welter for second. Welter hung on for third.

The car count in Super Stocks was down, as only six cars took green.

The front spot belonged to Brent Cooper, who claimed his fourth victory of the year in the 97 car.

There was plenty of exciting action behind Cooper, however.

Tommy Ausburn and Matt Bastow raced side-by-side for a spell with the 88 of Ausburn winning that battle.

Then there was a heated battle for third between Ausburn and the 58 of Larry Welter Jr. Welter appeared to get the spot, but he was nudged up high in turns 1 and 2 and fell back. He pitted soon afterward and was visably upset after exiting his car.

Ausburn grabbed third.

Bronson Speedway general manager promises more Super Stocks this Saturday night.

Once again, there weren't enough 4-Cylinder Hornets to race.

Cars are needed to run in this novice stock division. It?s affordable racing on the high-banked 1/3-mile track.
