CMS Supply List

Chiefland Middle School asks that parents/guardians help students be prepared for the first day of school by purchasing the following for their students:

Loose leaf notebook paper, several folders with pickets and paper fasteners, pencils and erasers, pens, colored markers or pencils and a backpack, which is not mandatory but usually necessary.

Students are expected to buy a PE uniform at school. The cost will be between $15-$20.

Meet the Teacher Day will be held Friday, Aug. 15 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.

The first day of school is Aug. 18. School starts at 7:58 a.m.

For more information, call 493-6025.

Meet and Greet at CES

Chiefland Elementary School will be holding its "Meet and Greet" Aug. 15 from 8:30 until 10:30 a.m.. This is the first and best opportunity to find out who your child's teacher is for the school year.

On this day you will also have a chance to learn about the new YMCA program being held after school, Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs, and after school tutoring.

New items parents need to be aware of include food prices.

As many of you know the price of food has risen as the price of gasoline for transporting food. Due to these increased costs the lunch price is going up 25 cents. Lunch will now cost $2.25, reduced lunch 40 cents, breakfast $ 1.75, reduced breakfast 30 cents.

On a brighter note, school will open five minutes earlier this year at 8:05 a.m. (The final tardy bell will ring at 8:10.) Student supervision begins at 7:40. Families were a big help in reducing the number of children who come to school too early last year. Please help spread the news that there is no supervision until 7:40. The doors for breakfast will open at that time. School will let out at 2:10 p.m. as usual.

Six new staff members are welcomed aboard this school year.

B.J. Whistler is one of the secretaries. Cherri Hazzard and Ashley Rhodes are new kindergarten teachers. Julie Nyugen is the new guidance counselor that is shared with Bronson Elementary. Jean Kersey is the new ESE teacher working with kindergarten through second grade students. Bobbie Jo Gowland is the assistant principal.
