Alvin Harrison Jr., of Trenton, died Jan. 5, 2012 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland.
Born in Geneva, Ala., he came to this area from Babson Park in 1976. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the bottled gas industry and also worked for the Alachua County School Systems. He enjoyed camping and gospel sings. He was most proud of his family and his dog and loyal companion Lady.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Harrison of Trenton; daughter, Diane (Jeff) Stillson of Gainesville, Mickey Harrison of Bartow, Terry (Clarice) Harrison of Trenton, Kenneth (Julie) Harrison of Trenton, Robert (Rachel) Harrison of Perry and Robby (Laurie) Harrison of Weirton, Va.;, sister, Nadine Jenkins and brother, Murle Davis both of Lakeland; 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and great-grandson, Braxton.
Graveside services were Jan. 8 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Newberry with the Rev. Travis Moody officiating.
