The Friends of the A.F. Knotts Public Library is hosting along with The Yankeetown Woman’s Club a celebratory program to honor the A.F. Knotts Public Library’s 50th Anniversary on Friday, February 27, starting at 2 p.m. Join us at Yankeetown Woman’s Club at Five 56th Street, Yankeetown, for our program entitled “A Good Old Talk of the Good Old Days” followed at 3:30 P.M. by an Open House in the Felburn Room at the A.F. Knotts Public Library. Edward Michaels will be Master of Ceremony of this great event and will introduce the entertaining and historical panel consisting of long time residents of southwestern Levy County. The panel includes Dot Cason, member of the Woman’s Club, Garden Club, and Friends of the Library; Betty Berger, local author (Back Roads), columnist, artist, former Inglis Town Commissioner, and dedicated environmentalist; Candace Boothe, owner and caretaker of the infamous cracker and pioneer Dessie Smith Prescott’s Withlacoochee River Lodge. The audience will be invited to share experiences and stories with the panel.

Following the program there will be a reception next door at the A. F. Knotts Public Library hosted by the Friends of the Library. The public is invited to tour the library and sample the delectable foods that have been a tradition at library programs. Betty Burger will have a book signing at this time.
