On Tuesday, March 17, St. Patrick's Day, AARP held its regular monthly meeting at the Trenton Community Center.

Justin Jones presented a very interesting program on the care and use of fire extinguishers. We all learned a great deal about those "little red cylinders" that most of us have in our homes. He also reminded us to check the gauge and be sure that it is still pressurized. He told us that if we would like to bring our extinguisher into his shop, he is usually around on Thursday and said that he would be glad to inspect it, personally, and show you how to use it.

The tables and the entire hall were "decked out" in Irish Green which made the 71 members and guests, who were also dressed in green, feel like they were in Ireland.

Bakery goods were distributed by the Senior Food Pantry and we collected two boxes of CAN IN HAND for the Pantry.

Omni Home Care representatives did blood pressure checks for all. Shiela Frierson and her sister Susan Lamb told us about the many services that are offered by them and covered by Medicare.

The meeting was adjourned at noon and a delicious lunch was served by the Hospitality Committee.

The April 21 meeting, which will be a picnic with entertainment, will be held at Otter Springs at 10:30 a.m.

Otter Springs is located off of CR232 just north of Wilcox.
