40th Annual Cedar Key Seafood Featival at the park

Hungry for seafood? Want to enjoy live music in a beautiful Gulf Coast setting? Looking for fun and shopping the whole family can enjoy. Then mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days for the 40th Annual Cedar Key Seafood Festival  As Levy county’s largest event, the seafood festival celebrates the area’s fishing heritage,with two days of food, shopping, music, and family fun on Cedar Key. The Cedar Key Lioness,  Thelma McCain, has organized over 150 art and crafts exhibitors to exhibit and sell their work  Cedar Key’s Second Street. The fun begins with the 11 a.m. when the Seafood Festival Parade, under the direction of Lions Parade Chairwoman Susan Hollandsworth, proceeds down Gulf Boulevard to the City Marina. Floats, decorated golf carts, bikes, boats, cars, and individuals compete for prizes and the best sea creature costume. Participation is free. Parade registation forms for the free event are available at retail outlets in Cedar Key and can be downloaded at www.cedarkeylionsclub.org. Festival Chairmen Roland Senecal and Maurice Hendrix, are organizing the Food in the Park, a community fund-raising event. Over a dozen groups, churches, nonprofits, and school clubs will dish up fresh seafood and homemade delicacies in booths at the beach-side city park.  Vendors will offer grouper sandwiches, clam fritters, funnel cakes, smoked mullet, crab cakes, corn on the cob, French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, coke, iced tea, coffee, ice cold water, lemonade, cakes, cookies, and deserts.  Enjoy a meal under a cabana while listening to free Live Music in the Park, organized  by Anna White. The performances are from noon to 5 p.m. and feature outstanding Central Florida musicians.
