The 2009-2010 Levy County 4-H Sewing campers completed a community service project as part of the camps. They made necktie coolers for our soldiers. When soaked in cold water these necktie coolers expand and assist with keeping our soldiers cool.
And as it happens, one of the fiscal assistants at the University of Florida IFAS Family Nutrition Program is married to a soldier. He happened to be home on leave as the summer was ending and has agreed to accept the coolers and take them back to the soldiers.
The campers made approximately 45 coolers in all. Many campers participated in this project, but only a few were able to come for a photo with Sgt.Timothy Barber, D Co. 2/124 Infantry out of Eustis.
