Judi Cooksey, former teacher and coach, dies at 58

Judi Cooksey, wife of Bronson football coach Al Cooksey, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 23. She was 58.

Cooksey's time as a basketball and softball coach at Williston High School capped a long career coaching student athletes in Florida. She was also a teacher with the National Education Federation in Palatka, Fla.

Cooksey was a four-yeal letter winner for the Florida State track team, and also coached the state of Florida softball team and at the Sunshine State Games. She also coached softball and basketball at Aucilla Christian Academy.

Services were held on Dec. 26 at the Waukenah United Methodist Church in Monticello, Fla.

Cooksey is survived by her husband, mother Alice Keffer of Winter Haven, son Keith, and daughters Kirsten Brown and Kim Stanley, sisters Ann Gonzalez and Lynn Poole, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
