Eighth Circuit Court Judge Stanley H. Griffis III swore in John Myers of Chiefland as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer on Sept. 1, 2009 in the Gilchrist County court house. John Myers, a retired detective investigator for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, is a member of the Chiefland Church of Christ, Chiefland VFW, Bronson American Legion and is a Master Gardener with the Levy County Extension Office. Myers will work with abused, abandoned and neglected children as their representative in the Dependency Court Process. He has already been assigned a case and is working toward the goal of reunification with that family.
Not present was Tammie Bloom of Chiefland, a Family Support Worker for the state Department of Health. Bloom completed the 30 hours of Guardian ad Litem training but was unable to attend the swearing-in due to family illness. Bloom will be sworn in at a later date.
