Once again the community of Chiefland has stepped up to provide a service for our children. Through the efforts of Chiefland Area Athletic Association’ volunteers and the businesses of Chiefland, our annual Halloween Carnival was a huge success. CAAA started the Halloween Carnival 11 years ago to offer parents and the community an alternative to door-to-door Trick or Treating. Chief Douglas ensures that our carnival is a safe place by assigning city policemen to monitor the area.
We also need to thank Betty Walker, our former mayor, and the businesses of Chiefland who donated time, money, and door prizes to make this event a success. Liz Smith, Rhonda Beauchamp, and Jamie and MaryAnn Weatherington helped me organize and construct the carnival.
Through these efforts we will be able to continue our annual scholarship fund. We give one senior male and and one senior female of Chiefland High School a scholarship. There were many students from CHS that worked at the carnival. They were proud to give back to their community.
We also need to thank many of the employees of Winn Dixie who donated their time to run booths and pass out candy. Also, one of the highlights of the night was a gold and diamond necklace that was donated by Mrs. Wendy from Bejeweled Jewelry.
Over the years, CAAA has grown and branched out to serve children and adults with athletic events year around. We consider it an honor and a privilege to work for the citizens of this community. This Halloween Carnival is an event that we look forward to hosting. It’s just a time to have good, family fun.
We thank everyone who was involved in helping us make this Halloween Carnival a success. So many individuals and businesses participated, it is impossible to name each.
