Percy Q. Bass, WHS, Gator booster

Percy Q. Bass, 68, of Williston, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. He was born on November 7, 1941 in Natchez, Miss., to Percy Q. and Lillian Hartzog.

He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Williston 29 years ago from Zwolle, La. He is a former preacher for the Church of Christ in Williston. Mr. Bass was very active with the Williston High School Booster Club where he also served as president for many years.

He worked for Levy County as a maintenance man and was  employed as a receiving clerk for Winn Dixie for 10 years. He was also an avid Gator fan.

He is survived by his mother, Lillian Spence; wife, Bonnie Bass; son, Derrell Bass (Tori); stepson, Linny Bolf; daughter, April Bass; stepdaughters, Tracy Barber, Tammy Jones; three sisters; one grandchild; and four step-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 24, at Knauff Funeral Home-Williston Chapel. Services followed at the chapel with Wayne Saylor officiating. Interment was at Orange Hill Cemetery Williston.

Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home-Williston.
