Dixie Humane Society needs holiday foster homes for pets

Dixie County Humane Society is participating in the national “Foster A Lonely Pet For the Holidays” pet fostering program starting today and having a foster/adoption event on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walmart in Chiefland.

Across the country, over 13,000 pet rescue organizations are trying to empty their kennels for Christmas, encouraging members of the public to invite a pet home for the holidays.

Dixie County Humane Society is happy to answer questions about the program for people interested in making this Christmas a happy holiday for a pet in need.

If you are interested in welcoming home a “Pet for The Holidays” please call (352) 542-1081.

Dixie County Humane Society will provide all needed supplies. The Society has an average population of 40 adoptable dogs and 40 adoptable cats.  You can view all of our pets online at www.petfinder.com.

The group's goal is to have each of these pets into a home by noon on Dec. 20.

Also,  tune in to  “A Dog Named Christmas,” a Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie about a dog fostered during the holidays, on CBS on Nov. 29.
